Razz
Razz is a variant of 7-Card Stud. All 7 Card Stud rules apply to it, with a few exceptions. In Razz, low hands are the winners. The lower a hand you can show down, the better the chances you’ll end up taking the pot.
Thus, the best possible hand will be a 5-high straight. Straights and flushes do not count as high, as a matter of fact they’re non existent in the game.
The action is usually started by the player holding the highest door-card, he is the one who posts the bring-in. Suit is used as a tie-breaker in case two or more players end up with the highest cards. in all subsequent betting rounds, the player with the lowest showing partial poker hand starts the betting (remember though, that lowest is the best in Razz)
In case there is a tie again, the player on the immediate left of the dealer starts the betting.
When played with a fixed limit, the lower limit is used on the 3rd and the 4th streets, and the upper one on the other streets.
If you’re a good Stud player, you probably won’t encounter any difficulties adapting to Razz.
