Rakeback

Rakeback is one of the best permanent edges you’ll ever be playing with as a poker player. Different poker room offer different percentages of rake rebate, however, the more-or-less industry standard is around 30%.

That means, at the end of the month (or weekly or daily) you’ll receive 30% of all rake your play generated for the poker room you’re playing in. That’ll boost your EV+ considerably, as it doesn’t take a genius to figure out, this way, at the end of the month if you’re a break-even player, you’ll be turned into a winner by the rakeback alone.

When signing up for a rakeback deal, you need to make the kind of selection you’d usually undertake when hunting for bonuses. There are more or less advantageous rakeback deals.

The percentage offered is certainly of much bigger importance here, than the amount of money is, in case of sign-up bonuses, simply because you never have to unlock rakeback. What you earn is all yours.

Some poker sites ( the majority of them, actually) will pay you your rakeback once a month. If you’re a winning or break-even player, it’s all right, but if you’re a slightly losing one, getting the money in your account a.s.a.p. is a priority.

Some poker rooms will pay you weekly, or every single day.

Another thing that largely influences rakeback is the way your poker room calculates the rake you contribute. Some poker rooms simply divide the rake to as many players as there are around the table, regardless of whether they’ve actively participated in the hand or not.

This is not a good setup for you if you’re a good and aggressive player, since you’ll end up generating rake for the other guys.

Other poker rooms only count players who actively take part in the pot, still others distribute the rake proportionally to the contribution of each individual player.

Bear in  mind that if you play in tournaments, you’ll contribute less rake to the room, which also means you’ll be eligible for less rakeback.
